PADDLE DESCRIPTION: (10-eleven miles round-trip, 4-5 hours) - The Silver River is renowned for its water, crystal clear and deep, sporting a variety of beautiful fish and gorgeous underwater grasses, some with flowers! The current is strong, 800 million gallons a day (at normal water levels) of crystal clear water gushing out of 30 springs and 61 vents along its run, most of them in the upper quarter. The return downstream is a great way to relax and enjoy this river, because the strong current carries us along, so we can glide quietly past the wide variety of wildlife without alarming them: gators, otters, monkeys, turtles, snakes, wild hogs, many different kinds of birds, and more!

Let's go on a hike at the Cone's Dike trail in Paynes Prairie! We might see any of the following on this trail: hawks, eagles, horses, cows, butterflies, cardinals, bison, scrub jays, or tortoises. You might want to bring the following items with you on this trail: sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, water, snacks, some money, comfortable shoes/sneakers, camera, and binoculars. Description of the trail: This trail is very sunny and flat. It is known as the "Everglades" of Paynes Prairie. Length of Trail: 8 mis round trip. We'll take a break at the 4mi mark for water and snacks. Admission Fee: $6.00 per carload Donations: Monetary and/or aluminum can donations are accepted and appreciated. We'll have some hiking/activities planned for the daytime. The Social and Hiking group is also having 1 the same weekend there, so we can mingle with some of their members if time allows. There is hiking, boating, wildlife viewing, biking, and horseback riding available there. Reservations are made through Reserve America, and the sites are $18.00. Try to get a site near 30 or 35. This is a great park, and I used to work there. Food info can be discussed later.
